Sieglinde Swann

Princess Sieglinde Swann

Related Character Bio

Allegedly fearing for her daughter's safety during the War of the Six and the following Hazdahn Raids, Ellyria Mopatis sent Sieglinde to become a ward of Queen Lyanna Stark in 421 AC, as the Queen of the North had proven a trusted ally to House Mopatis in their time of need. Setting sail with Ser Riley Seal, Sieg was brought from Pentos to Karhold, and then from Karhold to Winterfell, where she would finally be introduced to the Wolf Queen. It is scurrilously shared that on that day, the young child had impudently thought Queen Lyanna a scullery maid, and asked Lady Greenwood to show her the real queen.   Regardless of the story's veracity, Queen Lyanna treats her ward well. Thanks to the She-Wolves of the North and many women taking more prominent roles in the kingdom, Sieg was afforded many liberties most young ladies were not. She often left the keep without ladies-in-waiting or household guards, consorting with random townsfolk and exploring the many wintry groves that littered Wintefell's landscape. She came to speak with boys just as easily as she did girls, and it eventually became quite clear that she showed much more interest in the hobbies of the lads then the ladies.   Swordplay, archery, and swimming are among her most favored activities, and as she grew, she came to gather four other like-minded maids that shared her proclivities, both noble and common alike. Upon them returning to Wintertown covered in filth one afternoon, Garred Forrester jestingly dubbed them 'the Winter Roses' of the North. A name that has since stuck. The long voyages she had taken as a child on the high seas still capture her imagination to this day, and she often asks the Winter Knights of the Ironfleet to take her on the water when they visit Winterfell Keep.   Though her appearance is said to take strongly after her late aunt Sieglinde, a happy coincidence to her late father, the only thing she truly shares with her long-past kinwoman is a love for the sea. And though she cares not for his memory (memories she does not have), she still inherited the Black Swan's everlasting desire for attention and acknowledgement. Which only further heightens her wild escapades and behavior. What she inherited from her mother on the other hand was something much more dangerous: ambition. To have her name be remembered throughout the annals of history. Together, these two traits will surely make her life a maelstrom, with those left in its wake only realizing all too late.   Though the danger has long since past for House Mopatis, Ellyria has still not sent for her daughter. And in all truth, Sieg is likely unable to return even if she could. The girl is perhaps more Northman than Pentoshi at this point. A dangerous fact as the winds of fate begin to blow, and rumors of great strife begin to rear their ugly heads upon the North.
