Nyunyu Corbray II

Prince, Heir of the New Vale Nyunyu Corbray, II (a.k.a. Haerax zo Lezehrq, The Ugly, Snakeface, The Ugly Crow, Iron Beak)

Personality

Nyunyu is a clever boy. Even for his age, he speaks Low Valyrian and the Common Tongue easily, and of course, he knows High Valyrian, even if he doesn't use it. Unlike what most would think, he is quite athletic, but he prefers being alone rather than in public, as people tend to dislike his face.   Since his father died when he was young, he has been searching for a paternal figure, which he has found in three grown men:
  • The first is Terl Lynderly, his bodyguard. Even in these lands, he uses another name. A former knight from the Vale, he always carries himself with odd manners and proud values, though they are not particularly useful.
  • The second figure is Merlan, an exotic young priest who always tells incredible stories about a "Prince That Was Promised" and his fiery sword. Terl doesn’t like that Nyunyu spends time with him.
  • The third, and probably the one who has had the most influence on the boy, is Lotho Rogare. The intriguing son of Moreo Rogare took an interest in the ugly boy from the moment he arrived. Very little is known about their relationship, but it is clear that Lotho never lets Nyunyu forget how ugly he is.

History

At the age of four, Nyunyu was exiled from the Vale to Lys and used as a bargaining piece to maintain peace between the Free City and the new kingdom that had emerged in Essos. Since then, he has rarely seen his mother and has spent his life among men who preferred to mold him to their will rather than show him love or kindness. In those foreign lands, he was forced to change his name and pretend to be someone he was not. But for a boy of four, he was simply himself—just with another name.   When he was eight years old, he fell gravely ill with a sickness that nearly killed him. It was Lotho Rogare who saved his life through unknown means. To prevent the disease from spreading before his recovery, he was given a special mask—designed by his savior—shaped like a crow. Even after he was healed, he continued wearing the mask to conceal his true face. No longer met with disgust, people now looked at him with curiosity—unsettled yet intrigued. And he liked that.
