Uuu

The Uuu are a solitary, nomadic species. As far as is currently known, each individual Uuu has their own large ship, which is run mostly by robots serving the will of the ship's owner. The Uuu themselves perform almost no physical activities, which has resulted in significant parts of their body atrophying.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Uuu are believed to have once been mammalian and somewhat similar to many other known sapient species, however due to their current way of life all their external appendages have atrophied, resulting in a large, heavy, mostly shapeless body without any hair, scales feathers or other covering. The only significant externally distinguishable feature is the face.

Genetics and Reproduction

It is unclear how the Uuu reproduce. They are secretive about biological details of their species, and not even an encounter between two individuals of the species has ever been observed. It is assumed they make use of artificial insemination and incubation techniques to preserve the species.

Ecology and Habitats

Inside their ships, Uuu are typically without any clothes and suspended in large vats of a gel-like fluid constantly held at body temperature. It is assumed that part of their nutrient intake occurs through the skin from this gel. On the rare occasions they leave their ships, they have been reported to sit in an air-conditioned, sealed, tent-like structure mounted on a robotic transport.

Civilization and Culture

Average Technological Level

Uuu technology is more advanced than that of the UDSA, especially in robotics and automation for supporting their large ships. They do not seem to have significantly advanced c+ Drive however, spending significant amounts of time moving around the galaxy at speeds up to c+v7. The ships are very large, typically 2km in length or more.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Presumably due to the rarity of interaction with other individuals and the high level of intent detection their robotics technology allows, Uuu language is essentially a series of muffled moans and communicates intent entirely through subtle inflections and minute variations. This makes it rather difficult to decipher for common Autotranslator technology, however it is not a major issue in most cases, as the Uuu typically only communicate through proxy robots which are capable of speaking many different languages.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Uuu rarely interact with other species. When they do interact with outsiders, it is primarily for trading in order to resupply their ships. There have been rare reports of Uuu becoming aggressive and devastating trading outposts when trades are rejected, however their offers are typically very advantageous to the other party so this only occurs rarely, and not all Uuu become aggressive in this situation.
