Ames Atkins

Dr. Ames Howard Atkins was a human physicist best known for laying the groundwork on which the Entangled Tachyon Pulse Spacetime Tunnel Propulsion System is based, as well as for the circumstances of his death.

Career

After obtaining a doctorate in theoretical spacetime physics, Atkins founded Spacetime Manipulation Systems Incorporated with the goal of commercializing his theories. The company would later succeed at this after being purchased by Offworld Hydrocarbons following the discovery of the Ark, however at this point Atkins had already passed away. During his lifetime, Atkins' theories of tachyon-based spacetime manipulation were regarded very skeptically, to the point of being considered pseudoscience in some circles.

Death and Controversy

Atkins was killed in an orbital descent vehicle crash only days before the discovery of the Ark was announced. This fact, combined with the buyout of STMS shortly after and the unclear cause of the accident, has lead to various conspiracy theories surrounding the circumstances of the incident.
