Personal history
The hero known as Richard the Great was born in the year 97 BT as the second of three sons of King Edward II of Linia. Edward, himself the third of five children, had previously inherited the sister thrones of Vilia and Dalia when his two brothers fell in separate military confrontations.
Later in his life, Richard inherited the throne of Vilia when his brother Patrick II died with no surviving heirs.
Education
Richard was unique among the princes of the Midlands to that point in that he was sent away to Yandarma to be educated by the Order of the Grandmasters, rather than in the tutelage of professors at the Library of Hindomas.
Richard was apprenticed to the then-Grandmaster of Wind, a former statesman named Archibald. When his mentor died in 65 BT, Richard, then only 32 years old, was elevated to replace him as per tradition, though some among the order objected due to Richard's education being incomplete.
Further concerns were raised when Richard was designated to inherit his father's third realm of Dalia at the Second Division of the Three Kingdoms, for the Order was unprepared to function in his absence during his royal duties. A viceroy represented Richard in the capital during his extended leaves.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Richard's most famous activities were conducted during the Theft of Souls, when his colleague the Grandmaster of Void captured the souls of a massive collective of Midland citizens and raised their corpses as an army, driving out the royal family of Linia.
Appointed to the vaunted post of Archmaster, Richard personally oversaw the levying of a coalition to defeat the Void master and release the souls he had imprisoned, including a counterinvasion of Linia staged from Vilian territory.
Richard's military prowess and salvation of the Midlands has earned him the adulation of his people to the present day.
