Bat Folk

The Bat folk of Moltibek are ...

Bat Folk Species

Age. Bat Folk reach physical maturity about age 18, and can live for 80 to 100 years.
Size.
Bat Folk are small and slight, standing between three and a half and four feet tall and weighing 35 to 40 pounds. Your size is Small.
Speed.
Your base walking speed is 25 feet.
Darkvision. You have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Echolocation.
You have Blindsight of 30 ft., though you lose this trait when you are Deafened. You have advantage on Perception checks relying on hearing. Due to your heightened sense of hearing, you are vulnerable to thunder damage. You can also issue ultrasonic screeching sounds that only those with Echolocation can hear.
Prehensile Toes.
While you have fingers and a thumb on the main joint of your wings, you also have long toes that can be used to grasp weapons and tools while in flight, and to hold on to surfaces. This grants you a climb speed of 15 feet, so long as you don't wear shoes.
Bat's Wings.
Your forelimbs are large functional wings that grant you a flying speed of 50 feet, with the following limitations: At 1st level, you can use your wings only to glide, achieving up to 10 feet of forward movement for each 1 foot you descend. After making a glide of two rounds or more, you cannot glide again until finishing a short or long rest. At 3rd level, you can use your wings to fly for up to ten minutes, in one minute increments. After that much use, you must complete a short or long rest before you can fly any more. At 5th level, you can use your wings to fly for up to one hour, in one minute increments, after which you must complete a short or long rest before you can fly any more. At 7th level the only limit on your flight time is the rules on travel and exhaustion.
To use this flight speed, you can't be wearing medium or heavy armor.

Common Bat Folk Cultures

Bat folk are most often either Lurkers In the Woods or At Home in the Sky.       Suggested Heritages: Bat folk families frequently pass on the Traditions of Stillness or the Hidden. They've had a number of (in)famous families with Tiefling bloodlines, as well.
