The Silver Siren

The entity known as the Silver Siren was perhaps the most mysterious of the Solarcrats. Choosing the Silver Sea as her domain, she ruled over it like the volatile gods of myth, and many who sought the shelter of her light drowned in the dark waters upon her whims.   Exhibiting an unusual degree of control over the geography of her domain, the Silver Siren could raise great sandbars from the sea floor, creating habitable spaces, roads and passageways, and beaching sea life to feed those under her care. Her generosity came with a difficult price, however, and failure to obey even the most baffling of commands was met with hideously cruel punishments. Still, the promise of light, easy food, and safety from roving bandits or monsters drew many. If ever her supply of willing subjects dwindled, she took great delight in her powerful ability to call unwilling subjects by compulsion. The Siren's song was irresistible to those who heard it.   Discovering by chance her connection to a soul on Aestrona, the Silver Siren thought to escape Maverot forever. To that end she bent her will to the summoning of her other self across the abyss many times, waiting for the moment when the latter had so little to give the Altar of Self that she could no longer return. Ironically, the Siren's repeated interactions with her Aestronian soul changed her. Seeing a glimmer of what she could have been - sincere, kind, sacrificing - the Siren found herself overcome by remorse. Leveraging her control of the Altar of Self, she learned that a bridge could be formed which could allow all natives of Maverot to escape the dying world. Sacrificing herself, she laid down in the abyss and became the bridge. To her other soul she left her Memory of Light, that she might remain and facilitate the exodus of other Maverotians.
