The Reconstructive Surgeon

This sawbones has committed himself to the reshaping and rebuilding of flesh. Supernaturally skilled, he can even build bodies from scratch and stitch living souls into them, a service for which he can ask any price. Often mimicked but never matched, the Reconstructive Surgeon can offer a measure of safety not often experienced in Maverot; to those who lose memories each time they die, a doctor who can bypass death is second in importance only to life itself.   Believing that the body should match the soul within, the Surgeon takes it upon himself to make sure that all flesh is properly expressed. If a patient is dissatisfied with the outcome, what difference does it make? Beggars can't be choosers. That said, the Surgeon's Operating Room is surrounded by jubilant crowds eager to witness and experience "Live Reincarnation!" and "Corporal Exaltation!" The line awaiting surgery often stretches for miles and pilgrims may wait for months for their opportunity to Fall Under the Knife.   Within this carnival atmosphere a thriving settlement of sorts exists. Barkers lead the crowds in chants and song; merchants trade oil, food, and rare Siphoning Stones; gamblers move up and down the line, offering applicants an opportunity to advance their position in the line...or lose it. Here the Surgeon is treated with an adoration not given to the other Solarcrats; he is deemed worthy of honor and praise, and woe to the traveler who expresses otherwise.   The Surgeon's Fatal Desire is to rest his eyes, just once, upon a singularly flawless body. To that end he scrapes away the perfect pieces he finds on his patients - the tiniest sliver of skin, a single tooth, a minute and pristine length of blood vessel - and sculpts them into his magnum opus, the Perfect Flesh. Into this creation he has stitched most of his original body, there to live in perfection once his project is complete. If the Surgeon is killed but the Perfect Flesh remains, a new Surgeon can make itself from the flesh to continue the great work.
