Fatal Desire
Desires are more than motivations on Maverot; they are fixations, obsessions, demands. Distilled into the strongest aspects of their egos - as represented by their Masks - natives of Maverot are held in thrall by their dearest fantasies. These fantasies are not subject to reason or logic, and those gripped by them lack awareness and even self-preservation in their pursuit. The question on Maverot is not whether one has given into their desires, it is how deep have they fallen?
The Masks, as powerful representations of the sense of self, may become more than an external shield between the self and world; those who surrender completely to their Fatal Desire may sometimes become their mask. No longer a person holding a desire, they are the wanton embodiment of their yearnings. Few survive this transformation for long. Most become so dedicated to the fulfillment of their cravings that they sacrifice their very lives in the pursuit. Those who do survive experience a fundamental change in physiology and psychology and often manifest strange powers. These are likely to become Solarcrats if they possess a strong Memory of Light, provided they do not hold that title already.
