Pirate Coalition

The term used for the loose alliance of pirate crews the oppose the Kingdom of the Waves and dominate the Lawless Surf.

Structure

The Coalition as little in the way of organization; each pirate crew acts in its own interest and how they see fit, with the Nine Pirate Lords leading the largest of fleets. Each Pirate Lord holds an item known as the Nine Pieces of Eight, and can loose their status as a Pirate Lord if their Piece of Eight is taken away from them.

Culture

Each pirate crew is unique and thus have greatly different cultural ideals. The one major ideal that unites all of them is a love of freedom and a resistance to the actions of the Kingdom of the Waves to control the ocean.

Public Agenda

The founding doctrine of the Coalition is to keep the waves free of the tyranny of the Kingdom of the Waves and the Overseas Merchant Guild, but each pirate crew interprets this in different ways. Many are just out for their own benefits, raiding Kingdom ships, remote unaffiliated islands, and even other pirate crews without thought, while others make an effort to aid those who struggle on the borders and craft ship-to-ship alliances.

Assets

The greatest asset of the Coalition is the ingenuity of Lapperto. Lapperto is a massive combination of pirate ships, strung together, that can dissemble and reassemble with surprising swiftness. It acts as a main hub for pirates, allowing them talk and trade, while being able to scatter itself when the Kingdom catches up to it.

History

After the titan Chrius had been defeated, the Kingdom of the Waves was formed, but struggled to keep its alliance of islands together, mostly due to financial problems. Out of this struggle, the Overseers Merchant Guild was formed, and quickly established a monopoly on trade over the ocean. Soon, abysmal working conditions and draconian new laws from the Kingdom began to chafe many northern islands and sailors. Soon, they rebelled, and much of the Northern Vaten Sea was thrown into chaos, naming the area the Lawless Surf. Eventually, the Pirate Coalition was formed to focus their efforts on preventing the Kingdom from reestablishing a foothold in the north.
