Monkey-Goblin
Also known as Troumop (Tailed-Goblin), monkey goblins are goblins who dwell on the coastlines of Vatenrelm.
Culture
Average technological level
The Troumop are responsible for much of the innovation and proliferation around black-powder and firearms in Vatenrelm, as their love of fire drove them to find new ways for casual arson in a wet world.
Common Dress code
Troumops have a great penchant for hats than other goblins, preferring to grab them from unwilling targets. The act of taking the hats seems to be the primary appeal, as most swiftly become bored with their stolen goods after a few days. Crews with many Troumops on board will often have various periods of "hat-frenzy" where the goblins will run around the entire deck, fighting over a single hat, often stolen from the captain.
Art & Architecture
Troumop usually create traditional goblin burrows on remote islands or coastlines but can also be found making their homes atop trees and cliffs, often building out of the wrecks of ships that wash up. These wreck-structures grow greatly over time, as new generations of goblins add more parts to it (and begin attacking passing ships with scavenged cannons for more parts).
Foods & Cuisine
Troumop's love bananas, another factor in their more common moniker of Monkey-Goblin, but they never eat them raw. The always boil the bananas into hot mush, which they then greedily devour (or throw at each other)
Birth & Baptismal Rites
Many Troumop fire several rounds of gunshots to celebrate the births of their children, but like other goblins, otherwise care little for them after their birth. Most simply accept that the goblins use the birth simply as excuse to fire off their guns and be rowdy.
Funerary and Memorial customs
While on an island or coastline, the Troumop simply cremate their dead, but while at sea, it is customary to launch the deceased goblin out of a ships cannon, so its soul can be rocketed back to Gob (and because it looks really funny).
Common Taboos
Like their contemporary counterparts, little is taboo to the Troumop, save for helping the hated Twamop. Many Troumop struggle to follow the rules of their pirate leader, and must have several punishments (usually in the form of dunking them into barrels of saltwater) before they get the message.
Common Myths and Legends
There are many different and conflicting legends around the origin of the Troumop. The most prevalent one is that they are the remnants of the goblins trapped in Vatenrelm by the Separation, but unlike the Twamop, they refused to sumbit to the Ice Queen, and fled to the ocean. Some say that they simply adapted to island life, while others claim the Wuko, the Monkey-King, encountered them and help to transform them into a more simian appearance.
Ideals
Relationship Ideals
The Troumop share almost all of their traditional ideals with their distant kin, but due to their integration into the Pirate Coalition, are much quicker to adapt and live with non-goblin races.
Major organizations
Most Troumops serve as members of the Pirate Coalition, often taking up roles as a ships powder monkey to channel thier love of fire and destructive force. Seldom are they found inland in Gabbalend, as they have a fierce rivalry and hatred of the Twamop, the snow-goblins.
A monket goblin alters their starting speed and their Skilled trait and gains the following traits:
Climber: A goblin with this trait gains a climb speed of 10 feet, gains the +8 racial bonus to Climb checks that having a climb speed normally grants, but has a 20 foot base speed instead of a 30 feet speed.
Prehensile Tail: Monkey goblins are born with prehensile tails. These tails cannot be used to wield weapons, but can retrieve stowed items as a swift action. Monkey goblins are slower than normal goblins, having a 20 foot movement speed. A monkey goblin only gains a +2 racial bonus on Ride and Stealth checks instead of +4.
