Eve

The First Light

The first Edaan, and the Mother of Humanity

Divine Domains

Eve is the goddess of birth and rebirth, light, woman, and purity. Many pray to her in the hopes of easing birth pain and to help increase the survival of birthrates. She grants her divine followers access to the Glory, Good, Healing, Protection, Sun domains, with the Day, Defense, Legend, Light, and Resurrection.

Artifacts

Eve is said to hold the Jars of Primordial Moastad, jars that hold clay still wet from her creation. With this clay, she can craft many things, including new life, but only loans out these jars in extreme need, as they will one day run out of clay.

Holy Books & Codes

Eve's codes are recorded on the 6 Holy Clay Tablets, clay writings from the dawn of humanity.   The Tablet of Life: The first tablet, which describes Eve's creation, and reaffirms the sanctity of all life, including that a life should never be taken if possible.
The Tablet of Birth: The second tablet, it describes many birth medicines and techniques, and the depicts the legends of Eve's birth of humanity and sculpting of new human souls.
The Tablet of Purity: The third tablet, it teaches many rituals of the church, processes to access divine magic, and advice on how to raise children properly and live a pious life.
The Tablet of Time: The fourth tablet, it holds many stories of the history of the Church of the Pure Light, tales from the Age of Conflict, and other past events viewed from the Eves perspective.
The Tablet of Death: The sixth tablet, it describes proper death rituals and the process one's soul must go through to travel the Root of Souls and reach the Mother's Garden.
The Six Tablet: Simply referred to as the sixth tablet, it describes future prophesies and their interpretations, including various legends of humanities further ascendancies.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

Eve's official holy symbol is a glowing baby, but is also commonly depicted in person, with her arms downstreched in a loving embrace. Stain glass windows of her in that pose are extremely common, allowing for sunlight to filter through the portrait to emulate her divine light.

Tenets of Faith

Eve has six major tenets of faith that her devout must follow
  • I shall first and foremost spread the light of love through the world.
  • All are born to holy grace, and the sins of the parents are not the sins of the child. I shall spare a child from the crimes of their parents.
  • I shall work to protect woman from those who would harm them. If they desire to protect themselves, I shall aid them in their efforts in whatever way is best.
  • I shall remain pure in body and spirit, never sullying myself with vile acts.
  • No rapist is safe from my blade. If one would take away the agency of another, then my weapon will make sure they never get the chance to do so again.
  • The Prometheans are the light of the true world, so I shall always act to protect them and their interests

Holidays

The 2nd of Usa is celebrated as the Night of the First Light, a celebration of the birth of the Edaans. Gifts are brought to the great Promethean families, and usually, the Edaan leaders of towns will fund and host a large communal feast and gathering.   The 17th of Amara is celebration as the Day of the True Light. It is the celebration of the birth of humanity and is observed by humans all over the nine realms. It is celebrated by large festive gathering, typically aimed towards young children, with games, food and song.   The 4th of Ura is a solemn day, mourning the attack on Eve by Menoti, the Titan of Light. Known as the Day of Dark Blood, it is a day to be spent in prayer, to lend support and love to Eve as she must remember the traumatic event. Noncombatants spend the entire day in church, singing songs and giving aid to their neighbors. Warriors of the faith instead spend the day hunting enemies of the church, typically targeting orcs and giants.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

Eve's main goal seems to be the protection of their and stewardship of their children, the Edaan and of course, humanity. She is said to watch over mortal spirits and to help cultivate the growth of new souls in her divine garden.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

While her reasons for doing so remain up for debate, Eve was created by the Pale Wyrm, utilizing a mixture of Protos's chaotic energy and Thanaloc's celestial light, and their own saliva. If Sikan legends are to believed, she also mixed in the clay of the Venyu river, and it hardened into Eve, the first Edaan.   After her creation, Eve gave birth to the first Promethean Edaan, who than began to spread across the world, spreading the light of Usoram. After hundreds of year, the light spread to the top of Ygg, gaining the attention of The Author. The Author, intrigued, called a convent of several deities; which gods attended is greatly up for debate, although the common belief of the Church of the Pure Light is that the gods involved were The Author, the four Primal Elementals, Era, Sartos, Mip, and Guzmeg. Other sources claim the long dead and forgotten, or even the Titans were also involved. Regardless of the truth, these deities worked together to infuse Eve with power, and through that, Eve than gave birth to the first regular humans. This divine event capitulated Eve from a demigod to true godhood, and with her ascent, humanity spread out across the world.   As this was a time when gods remained active in the mortal world, Eve would often follow and help her children, and this age of prosperity lasted for generations, until the Age of Conflict and the Titan Rebellion. After Teth, the Titan of the Sky, spilt the heavens and earth and shaped the world into its current state, Eve attempted to shield some of her children left in the south, travelling through the area where Central and Ardlam had crashed into each other. Menoti, the Titan of Light, had long lusted after Eve's beauty, and ambushed her, forcing himself upon her. The blood from this struggle fell upon the earth, and from it sprung Dennu, the first Orc. Eve managed to escape and fled back into Ygg, remaining hidden for the rest of the Age of Conflict. Nine years later, she gave birth to a stillborn baby. Despite the trauma of the birth, Eve was heartbroken, and petitioned Death to give the child a true chance at life. Death, in a rare moment of movement, split the child's soul, creating Shi & Ihs, the first Dualox, and was given to Death to train under them.   Eve remained in Ygg, and was eventually joined by all the other true gods during the Age of Seperation. One legend states that shortly before the Separation began, Eve left the safety of Ygg to speak with Ogbane, a mortal women spurned time and time again for her looks, and had turned to Arhima to learn dark magic. Eve attempted to sway her from her dark path, but was attacked yet again and driven off by Ogbanes foul tongue. Eve retreated to her garden and remains there to this day.

Gender Identity

As the patron saint of women, Eve is always depicted either as a female Edaan or female human of Sikan or Maran descent.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Eve gave birth to the most populous species in the realm; humanity, and herself is said to be one of the greatest creations of the Supremes. Humans all across the world pay homage to her as their progenitor.

Mental Trauma

The Church of the Pure Light states that Eve as long recovered from the trauma of her abuse at the hands of Menoti, and remains a bastion of purity and love. Her detractors, especially those in Titan Exaltation, claim that Eve's light is a fraction of its once great power, and she has hidden herself away in her garden as a broken goddess, too afraid to act beyond granting her followers their spellcasting.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Eve is a member of a pantheon known as the Dawnstars, a group focused on healing and combating dark magic and is thus friendly with the other deities in the group.   It is unknown how Eve feels about Fien, another major god of light, as Eve had long retreated into their Garden when Fien was created and had their conflict with the Pale Wyrm. Many of the Eve's followers in the Church of the Pure Light state that Eve would have sided with the Pale Wyrm, and claim that Fien has harnessed light into something that harsher than it ever should be. Others claim that after the Pale Wyrm was disappointed with the creation of the Prometheans, they had a falling out with Eve, and that Eve might have even been part of how Fien was able to achieve victory over the much more powerful dragon god.   It is believed that Eve is on friendly terms with Hyrion, the Titan of Love, and was involved in the process along with Leoaton in convincing her to side against her siblings and aid the gods during Titan Rebellion.   Eve is dramatically opposed to Ogbane, as they have had conflict in the past, and Ogbane regularly destroys families by swapping babies with her Changeling spawn. Her greatest enemy is Menoti, the Titan of Light, who assulted her in the past.

Family Ties

Eve considered the Pale Wyrm to be their mother, as they were formed from their efforts, but they seemed to not have spoken to them for quite some time when the Pale Wyrm was slain.   As the progenitor of humankind, all the other human deities can trace themselves back to Eve. Tathallion in particular holds a close connection with Eve, as he was once a knight of her faith before he ascended to true godhood, and is said to have communed with her many times during his mortal life.   She is the birth mother of Shi & Ihs, the twin gods of destiny and fate, and had a hand in the creation of Hixo, the Halfling god of luck, through an unknown bet with Mip. She is also the mother of Nuri, the Alkan goddess of dreams, after a successful courtship with Alka, who remains one of the guardians to the entrance of her garden. She is also considered one of the mothers of Damon, the Nekoan god of battle, as a legend of Neko's ascension speaks of Eve healing Nekos wounds during a great battle, and act which birthed Damon.   One might consider Eve the birth mother of Dennu and the orcs, but both followers of the Church and the Orken Pantheons would find this idea offensive, as Eve was not a willing participant in the attack and Dennu would scoff at being born from what they perceive as a "weak women".
