Nightseers are a specialized type of tracker and bounty hunter that works to capture or destroy a target as defined in a marque. To the general populace, Nightseers are just another type of bounty hunter or mercenary for hire. But that is only just one part of who they are.

These are highly trained alchemists and fighters, skilled in the arts of dealing with the undead, Blight-corrupted djinn, and similar hex-twisted monstrosities. Those are the usual culprits they chase, but they are also a bounty hunter like any other. It isn't that uncommon to see a Nightseer given a marque to capture or kill a fugitive like any other bounty hunter.

On their own, they have no more authority than any other bounty hunter in a region. When on an active marque, they are granted a broad authority to pursue their target, even across country borders. Yet, they are not allowed to take the law into their own hands. The marque is the framework and direction they are expected to follow.

They're fond of saying, 'the marque is all'. It's their mantra.
