Childhood
Invar's childhood was relatively similar to that of an average child living in a 5th century Buvostian town. He grew up learning the basics of swordplay, memorizing poems and verses of scripture, and doing chores around the family home. Invar took an early interest in writing but his father stressed the importance of swordplay, hoping that Invar would one day succeed him as constable of the town. Invar accepted his father's wishes but continued to read and write whenever he had time to spare. After the age of 10, Invar and his older sister Sari began to get into mischief around town, banking on their father's position to get away with their escapades. This was brought to an end when the pair were caught stealing the tools from the town's blacksmith. Their father revoked their free rein of the town for a year while he subjected them to community service to make up for their transgressions. The pair would not risk pulling similar stunts within the town again. Invar began to resign himself to his father's chosen path for him, joining the town watch at the age of 15.
As Invar and Sari reached young adulthood, Invar began to settle into his new role as a town watchman. On the other hand, Sari became more and more dissatisfied with living in the town under a controlling father. Their father began openly negotiating a betrothal between Sari and Risau, the brother of the local judge, in order to keep her under control and to secure political favors. Sari began to take long hunting trips as a means to escape her family life and make time for herself. She became ever more distant from her father and even Invar to a lesser extent.
Events of Comingled

When Invar was 19, he learned that Sari was missing, presumed either dead or kidnapped. Charged by his father to assist the town's scouting corps in locating her, Invar began his search in Sari's favored hunting grounds. When Invar and the remaining scouting party made camp for the night, they were attacked by an unknown assailant. Invar was captured and soon found that his abductor was not only a centaur, but his missing sister Sari. Following a heated exchange, Invar agreed to help Sari search for a means to reverse her transformation and become human once again. The two journeyed to the neighboring kingdom of Likovas in order to seek out knowledge from the university in Kohefsvina.
Invar and Sari managed to complete their journey to Kohefsvina. The open city policy allowed Invar to fairly easily infiltrate the city, though it was only by the appearance of a friendly Buvostian professor that he was allowed to enver the university. The professor, Anya, was the foremost expert on Hybrids in the world at the time. Anya revealed the nature of how hybrids are created and told Invar where a coven of Dark Weavers were thought to be operating. Satisfied with his lead, Invar returned to Sari to take her to the Dark Weavers.
The siblings journeyed through the harsh winter to reach the foothills of the mountains that the Dark Weavers were believed to be operating out of. Following a perilous climb to a bluff, the siblings were ambushed by Anya, who had been tracking the pair since before they arrived in the city. Anya nearly managed to kill both Sari and Invar, but was beaten back and forced to plummet off the bluff to avoid death. After mending their wounds, the siblings journeyed to the peak of the mountain, where they encountered the Dark Weavers and a barely living Anya. The Dark Weavers offered to restore Sari to 'human appearance' by melding her upper half with Anya's lower half. Disgusted by the though, Sari refused the offer and the three worked together to defeat the Weavers. Satisfied with their decision Sari and Invar left to return home, hoping Sari could somehow be accepted as she was.
