Public Agenda

The University maintains its original mission to preserve and foster higher learning. Recently, through the efforts of Zdedvik Upitsat the institution has shifted its attention towards the education of the masses, though its higher learning functions remain the primary goal.
One of the most visible ways the University interacts is through its "Emissaries" who are sent out to educate local settlements and establish rudimentary schools. These emissaries will often be scholars but many are also students themselves and some are even patrons of the university or those working on their behalf. Emissaries will work to increase literacy, bilingualism, and civic understanding in the communities that they operate. They are also instructed to refer or recruit those whom they find particularly promising in academic ability, allowing the university access to a large pool of raw talent.

Assets

The University is a point of national prestige for the Likovan Crown and the Konelsva Alliance overall and as such is given generous funding from royal coffers. The University controls a main campus located in the royal district of Kohefsvina as well as a second, much smaller campus in Nilskri.

History

The Imperial University was founded centuries ago by order of Knir Alganvi I of the Empire of Zinruna as one of his last major acts. While the empire would for all practical purposes die with its Knir, the University was one of the few institutions that survived throughout the following centuries of war, invasion, and other drastic societal shifts and still maintains its ancient links to the long-dead empire. 
The University has gone through several changes throughout its existence, from its beginnings as little more than a collection of scholars in the Knir's court to a collection of mages working to preserve their arts to being little more than a glorified weapon development house all the way up to its modern form of being a well-respected institution of higher learning able to rival the likes of The University of Tharsa across the sea.
