Broch Mammärl is a Demian pirate hunter. like many modern pirate hunters, he began his career as a pirate himself before accepting a pardon in exchange for entering the service of the Sarjn navy, later going on to form the Kürl Buhnu alongside other former pirates.

Broch is a cunning naval tactician with a history of besting larger and better equipped ships in one-on-one combat. Though he is the de jure commander of the Kürl Buhnu, he has little talent for management and often relegates the daily running of the organization to his subordinates as he is largely placed in charge for name recognition among his former pirate comrades, hoping to inspire more to join the organization or frighten them away from trade routes patrolled by the organization.
