Pyramid Tomb
The Pyramid Tomb refers to a complex in the Andean Highlands southwest of Lake Titicaca. According to legend, the trickster-hero Ekeko lured an evil god from the stars into an armadillo burrow, trapping it there and having the people build the Pyramid Tomb over it. They used spells wrought in gold to keep it from ever escaping.
In truth, an entity known as El Padre de los Gusanos is trapped there by a Golden Ward. When that ward was damaged by Luis de Mendoza in the mid-16th century, it caused the creation of the monsters called Kharisiri. These creatures fed El Padre and worked towards his release.
In an effort to have greedy adventurers break more of the Ward, de Mendoza and his employer, Augustus Larkin, organized an expedition, hiring the Investigators to come with them. They had not reckoned on the Investigators learning the history of the site ahead of time or repairing the Golden Ward. The Pyramid Tomb became the site of Larkin and de Mendoza's deaths.
