Aron

Demographics

Aron is a diverse city. The plurality of residents are human, but there are many families of halflings, gnomes, and dwarves, as well as a few small and secretive populations of kenku and other monstrous civilians. Most of the wealthy families are merchants rather than nobles.

Government

The city is ruled by Duchess Giorgia, a human whose family has ruled Aron for generations. Much of the wealth of the city comes from taxation of trade goods, and legitimate traders must sort through lengthy bureaucracy. This leads to a system of bribes to shortcut the more tedious aspects of the system, further contributing to the city's wealth.

Defences

Stone walls surround central Aron, and the high number of mercenaries that accompany the travelling merchants assure that bounties are captured more often than not.

Infrastructure

Aron is home to one of the most secure banks in Hisberia, the Bank of Darven, which recently has suffered from a declining reputation ever since the heist that left several people dead and the contents of one of the high-security vaults looted.

Guilds and Factions

The Black Tongue has a great presence in Hisberia. The head of the family in this region, known only as the Dentist, resides in the city, and has his fingers in many pies concerning local politics and economics.
