Wilhelm and Käthe
Wilhelm and Käthe are apparently friendly peasants residing in the village of Putzdorff. They greeted the party as it passed through on the way to Hegenburg, and invited them to spend the night until the following morning. They also told them that they are among the third of the village population that stayed behind after the outbreak, but have no plans to leave, because they love their land, and have a hard time deciding between the two liege lords that claim their land as their own.
Edda "Eddi" the Fisher thought that the family was too friendly, and after a horse galloped off early on in the night, the rest of the party decided that they mean to betray them to the bandits . Later it became clear that they sent their son Thilo to tip off the bandits. Subsequently, when the captured bandits were escorted back to Putzdorff, Wilhelm tried to negotiate for the release of four of them by offering his horse.
