Karl Schreiner
The notary of the town of Silberbad, he works for its burgomeister, *Heinrich Todbrück. He recounted the recent (post-Plague) history of the town when the party had come to see him in an attempt to purchase paper, especially with regard to the Sensenmann yearly visit to claim a maiden. Schreiner's link to this is intensely personal, as the maiden selected this year is his daughter, Elsa. The notary stated that the day after she is taken, he will die (but he seems resigned to the fact).
He also offered an overview of the town's economy, which is traditionally driven by the hot springs, and the silver mines. However, since the expulsion of the Dwarfs from the city following the coming of the Plague, the mines have run dry (at the connivance of the dwarfs, as he sees it). He does not seem to hold the dwarfs in high esteem, and thinks the Sensenmann justifiably drove them out.
