Jupiter Republic

The Jupiter Republic is an interplanetary nation comprising the planet Jupiter and all of its moons, primarily the four Galilean moons of Io, Ganymede, Callisto, and Europa. The capital is New Memphis on the moon Ganymede.

Founding

The Jupiter Republic was founded in 2301 during the peace negotiations after the great Jupiter war between rebelling forces on Jupiter's moons and the United Nations, where the former colonies where granted complete independence from Earth.

Structure

The Jupiter Republic is a parliamentary republic currently led by President Samantha Henderson of the Galilean Progressive Party (GPP). Presidents serve terms of 0.25 Judean years (approximately 3 Earth years), and are elected by popular vote by the Jupiter Republic's population through the means of electronic voting systems. There is no term limit according to the Jupiter Republic's constitution and it is customary for presidents to serve at least two terms. Presidents of the Jupiter Republic reside in the presidential complex in the capital New Memphis, located on Ganymede 
Similar to many democracies hailing from Earth, the Jupiter Republic has a legislative body in the form of an upper house, known as the "Grand Chamber", which is located in Io. It has 100 seats, which are distributed to delegates from the different moons based on their population. They serve for one 12th Judean year (approximately 1 Earth year).
The Callistean Court of Justice, based on the moon Callisto, fulfils the judicial role in the Jupiter Republic. Six incumbent Callistean judges serve terms of 1 Judean year each (approximately 12 Earth years), with one of the terms ending and a new judge being elected every two Earth years.
