Lindenwin

Home of the Harvesting

Lindenwin is the largest of the hamlets in Wurmshire , largely due to its proximity to the Reaping Field (the location that the Harvesting takes place) Due to this, Lindenwin sees a large population boom before each Harvesting as envoys from Pataya and Tarragon arrive early to make preparations for the festival. This is in addition to the large number of people that come out of the woodwork during harvest season in an attempt to make money threshing wheat, harvesting gourds, and doing extra farm work. Like the other hamlets of Wurmshire, Lindenwin is lead by a village elder who is commonly agreed upon. Currently that is Stephen Hayerson .

Demographics

100% Human

Wyrlin is almost entirely Human. There are some scatterings of other races and it would not be impossible to believe that a person born in Wyrlin may have met a passing Dwarf or Halfling or maybe an Orc. Elves, Fey, or Elementals however are little more than fairytales to the common people. Additionally the vast majority of those living in Wyrlin are in some way connected to agriculture and as such have some archery training at best. To see a man walking around with a sword on his belt or other such weapon would cause them to be seen as someone of authority akin to a military soldier or a noble. To see magic would likely cause either panic or worse outrage. That said, it is completely reasonable that a number of people of Wyrlin would have experienced subtle magic like that from a bard’s lute (Nothing too flashy) Or the healing from a wondering medicine man (like a druid). Priest of Marofax have no power, they do not throw out flashy spells, heal/harm the weak, or wield holy clubs (maces) they are little more than preachers facilitating the god and ensuring that the Harvesting goes through. Marofax calls forth no Paladins. That said there are rumors of men who can heal with a word that get their powers from pagan gods. Theses can not be confirmed as anyone not worshiping Marofax does so in secret.

Government

Lindenwin is run by the village elder, the oldest living person in the village. He essentially acts as Mayor, gathering the taxes for the coroner and helping the priest prepare for the Harvesting.

Industry & Trade

Lindenwin is a farming town where most of its inhabitants make their living through agricultural means. Once a year during the Harvesting Lindenwin has a big boom in its economy as the Harvest and surround festivals bring in lots of people.

Infrastructure

Buildings:

Tavern: Winged Mare
Jenson Lindenwin

Jenson is a tall thin man. He holds himself up to a high standard despite his tavern the Winged Mare being subpar at best. Luckily for him its the only one in town. Jenson claims to have Elven roots, but this has never been proven. He will pretend to know a great deal about the outside world but is actually oblivious.

Blacksmith/Metalwork:
Chase Martin

Chase is 35 years old and build thick and muscular. He has dark hair that is always covered in dark cinders as he spends the majority of his time working his forge. He primarily works nails, horseshoes, and other tools for the town. Rarely does he dabble in things like weapons or armor as there is no market for it in the town and he is hardly trained in the art.

General store:
Rickton Lindenwin

Rickton is a simple old man who barely scrapes by with money made from his general store. He’s very quiet and keeps to himself although if you get him going he will rant for hours about know the next big thing! He never knows the next big thing.

Church of Marofax
Priest:Lamar Lloyd
Traveling Merchants:
Oats Monday

Oats is a grizzled older man who looks like he’s seen some things on the road. The party sees him every year as he comes to each Shire to witness their Harvesting. He has peppered short hair and is missing an eye that he covers with a leather eye patch. Oats is talkative and will answer questions about other Harvestings if questioned.

Jander Wells

Jander Wells is a spunky naturalist that is well known throughout Wyrlin as a medicine woman. She has long flowing prematurely gray hair. Her frame is slender but steely. She dresses in light slowing robes or thick hide depending on if she is going into the woods or not.

History

After the "Failed Harvesting", Lindenwin greatly angered Marofax. They found themselves housing 100s of survivors from Pataya which Marofax had destroyed a week earlier for displeasing him. This burden was however lifted when Edgar, Morcant, Navin, Leo, and Ben went to the remains of Pataya to recover the towns ledger and treasure.

Architecture

The average Lindenwin home is a single story, darkwood framed, plaster house like most of the towns buildings with the exception of the Church of Marofax which is stone and towers over the rest of the hamlet.
Lindenwin Fact:
Most people who are native to Lindenwin have a sort of dirty brown colored hair and average 5'10 males, 5'6 women. In addition to this many Lindenwinians have trouble finding someone romantically that they are not related.
