Average Lindenwin Home

Home is where the Hearth is!

Design

The average home in Lindenwin is a single story, wottle and daug styled house. The framing of the homes consists of a dark wood from nearby forests that match the other accents of the home. The roof is make of the same dark wood and is shingled. Typically these contain 1-3 rooms with dark wood floors, though there are many that still have dirt floors.

The main room of the house is sometimes divided using a faux wall but this is a relatively new practice. Homes built in this style have a strong focus around the hearth which is also the primarily implement for both cooking and heating. Beds are then lined along the walls near to the hearth for warmth. In the occasion that there is an extra room built it, it is generally an extra room for the master of the home to provide privacy.

Entries

Most homes in Lindenwin consist of one thick wooden door made of the same dark wood as the framing. There are two shuttered window on the street facing side of the home and on rare occasion another window in facing the back, though this is rare.

Sensory & Appearance

On entering a house most people are overwhelmed by the smell of the hearth burning, mixed with various animal smells. During the winter this is especially true as it is common for citizens to share living spaces with various smaller farmstock (Pigs, Sheep, Chicken, etc). Visually the homes are not much to look at, however in winter there tends to be very little light inside the home with most being lit exclusively by the burning hearth.

Contents & Furnishings

The contents within Lindenwin homes is very blande with little of value. This is due to most of the people spending very little time inside, instead using their time prepare for the harvesting. Anything of any real value would have been given up to Marofax as a sacrifice. That said common furnishing such as beds (Straw generally), tables, chairs, and more recently divider walls are more common. Occasionally a fur or stretch of leather is also used for decoration, doubling as bedding.

Two story buildings
While rarer there are a few two story buildings within Lindenwin from it's earlier days. There are built in a similar fashion to the other wottle and daub homes and often boast a merchant of some kind beneath them. It was concluded however that these homes were almost as tall as the church to Marofax and there by deemed illegal by the last Elder of Lindenwin. Existing homes were grandfather under the condition that the owners of these buildings assist in constructing a massive bell tower onto the church of Marofax.
