Airfoil Flairboat Vehicle in Maöbrah | World Anvil

Airfoil Flairboat

A long and wide ship with several ship wide wings. One wing is at the front behind mounted back and down pushing propellors. (smaller ships have only one, but bigger ships can have up to 6 rear pushing propellors. the bottom is flat and polished to direct the airflow to the rear. The ship can steer by redirecting the airflow under the ship. to move it needs a cushion of air. (Airfoil Flairboat) The airflow lifts the ship off the ground. The mechanical principle has a strong tendency to keep to the ground, preventing it from flying or tipping over. (technomages call it th 'ram effect' -rapid air movement-) The ship is capable of floating with enough speed when going over a cliff, but it is not adviced.   The two main masts Rotamasts provide it with energy to power the main propellers. a smaller one is for auxillary power.   The design is used to travel accros the sea of sand, cargo trade and hunt spitworms. The vehicle can be used on sand and water. It is however, more common on the sea of sand then on sea.

Power Generation

a long vertical shaft (mast) with three curved blades around it, rotating on a disk. The disk generates power and the power is stored in the crystalecs.
two propellers are mounted on the bow of the ship and powered by the same crystalecs. technomages have worked out how to build the energy transfer system. ad unlocked the Sea of Sand. (they ask a steep price for the vehicle, but there is zero to no maintenance. )

Propulsion

two electrical powered engines with propellors push air under the bottom of the ship, making it float. (ram effect)

Weapons & Armament

in some cases there is a harpoon on the bow and or rear of the ship.
there are a few build with mounted cannons or hand operated machine guns.

Armor and defense

The regular ships are made of silverwood. the more combat build ships are based on the lighter and stronger redwood and a few are made of metal. (very rare, very expensive but also very strong and vast)

Communication Tools & Systems

the communication (if available) is done with the glass sphere of resonance, but since these are very expensive, they only are found by captains who can afford them. More regular are the light signals and/or flags.

Additional & auxiliary systems

power is needed for navigation, cooking food or reloading the hunter's prodda's with electric charges

Hangars & docked vessels

the vessel cannot move effective over sand when the propellors are not moving.
the ships are highly maneuvrable when flowing but on slower speeds the ships use magnetic coils to precision steer in harbors. the harbors are equiped with magnetic resonators that respond on magnet influences creted by the ships.
