Aqua Aquardion

Primarily produced by Servants of Ironies initiated in the rites of Aquardion, Goddess of Situational Irony, aqua Aquardion is the holy water of the Church of the Unexpected.

Manufacturing process

The primary ingredient of aqua Aquardion is, of course, water. Typically, this water will be drawn from the headwaters of the Blue Silk River if at all possible, but members of the faithful operating in other environments may use any water of drinkable quality in the production of aqua Aquardion. Flowers, herbs, and a few drops of pure honey are left to steep in this water to impart their unique scents. The final product is, itself, potable, though it is intended to be used externally for the blessing of people and ritual implements.

Significance

Aqua Aquardion is said to carry the blessing of Aquardion and, as such, is thought to provide those annointed by it some measure of spiritual protection during times of mortal trouble or change. Newborns might be sprinkled with the water to accord them some protection from the dangers of early life, while the dying are annointed with it in the hopes that the blessing therein will guide the spirit of the soon-to-be-departed to the comfort of the goddess' embrace. Aqua Aquardion is also an important ingredient in funerary blocks, church seals, and the special ink used in the copies of the Incunabula used in temple worship. Important items and vehicles upon which lives depend (though not those which must remain sterile, such as surgical implements) are sometimes also annointed with the holy water as a matter of tradition - for example, during the christening of a new dieseltech airship.
Beyond its direct religious elements, aqua Aquardion is also culturally significant because of its scent. Suffused with tinctures of rose blossoms and certain other herbs, aqua Aquardion has a unique scent that often serves to draw the minds of those raised in the church back to their youth even if their faith has since lapsed. Moreover, the scent is capable of masking certain other scents, leading to its use as a folk remedy for some illnesses.

Aqua Aquardion may be found wherever the worship of the Gods of Irony may be found. Vials of the substance are also frequently found in public as religious charms of sorts, especially among solders on the front lines in the War of Reunification.

Base Price

Aqua Aquardion is given out freely by the Church in small quantities. It must be produced in bulk by the end-user for all other purposes requiring more than a gallon or so.
