Dul Kag

Dul Kag originated as the capitol of the dwarven kingdom of Kag Bhurim during the Age of Heroism.  By the Age of Community, the nation had completed receded into it's city that fills the interior of the mountain Thjoldmondr.  The city lies at the border of the Ulgoine Valley and the Immreth Mountains. While Dul Kag was once accessible from the valley floor in the Age of Heroism, the Daleview Door has long been closed off.  During the Age of Isolation the gates were barred and guarded.  At the beginning of the Age of Community, they were entirely collapsed.  Admittance is only gained by climbing the mountain in a journey known as The Taper and gaining access through the Skygate.

Demographics

Permanent residents are 100% dwarven.  To spy an individual of any other lineage is a notable occurence.

Government

Dul Kag is still run by the royal family that ruled Kag Bhurim: The Korddraaks.  The royal family lives within Konorhim.  While they are certainly among the most well off in the city, it is marginally so.  It is even possible that the elders of Gmalthgot are treated with higher priority than the Korddraaks.

Districts

Gmalthgot ("Elder Fort")

The top district of the city. In it's original creation of Dul Kag, Gmalthgot was meant to be a private neighborhood restricted to only residential dwarves of the city. With the international chaos of the lower markets, Gmalthgot was a sanctuary for the elder dwarves who wanted to keep to their own kind and not be bothered by tourists. With the destruction of the Daleview gate, the top entrance to Dul Kag became the only entrance. While the elder neighborhoods still exist, additional construction and retrofitting have adapted part of Gmalthgot into a military fortification if any creatures or peoples should attempt to break in through the Skygate. Gmalthgot does contain a two-block tourist area for the few individuals that make the journey to Thjoldmondr's top. The primary location of the tourist destination is the Panoram Rest   Key Locations Labor's Bounty: A network of lichen and fungus caves used as an apiary to produce the honey for Dul Kag's brewers.   Panoram Rest: A dwarven resort featuring only the finest of dwarven hospitality (which still falls subpar depending on your sensibilities)   Skygate: The top of Thjoldmondr, the very peak of Gmalthgot breaks the surface of the mountaintop. The doors are constantly guarded, though the primary individuals to enter and exit the gate are the Anvilguard, Dul Kags elite special forces soldiers that travel the surroundings.   The Strop: The military fort that controls the protection of Skygate as well coordinates the Anvilguard.

Konorhim ("Family Home")

The bulk of Dul Kag's society lives and practices trades within Konorihim. it is filled with government buildings, neighborhoods, crafters, trades, and shops for everyday living. Laterally placed within the mountain structure but slightly distinct from Konorhim proper is the Temple District. Dul Kag has two separate temples to Moradin position across from each other with a wide gathering square between them.   Temple District Birthwrought: Moradin's temple of Crafting. This temple pays homage to Moradin as the Allfather and Soulforger, responsible for forging dwarves from the earth and breathing life into them. The priests here work in a large, singular hall raised above the temple district surrounded by curtains of prismatically glowing molten metal.   Spirit's Temper: Moradin's temple of Heritage. This temple pays homage to the history and culture the dwarves. This complex is filled with arched hallways and pillared spaces filled with pipes channeling liquids and vapors. The Spirit's Temper is a Brewery that produces the holy "waters" for the priests, ceremonial use, and preparation for festivals. The temple is split between the archives and scribes at one end and the priests that call on the blessings of Moradin on the other.

Millton

Once known as Allmeet, the ground level district of Dul Kag went through heavy changes after the Daleview gate was collapsed. The lower end of Millton was adapted entirely into smelteries and foundries in close connection to the mines. This was meant to reduce the transportation of raw resources that used to have to be navigated around Allmeet to get to Konorhim for processing. This consolidation of the grunt work turned out to be so effect, it changed the lives of the workers.

The portions of Millton that are still used by civilians contain slums and dormitories for the dwarves that work the smelteries and mines. While a portion of these workers have families and greater lives up in Konorhim, not all do. The dormitories are used by Konorhim dwarves on long jobs to make the most of their work time before retreating to Konorhim for their times off. The slums contain the dwarves how have given in to a lower lifestyle of working and drinking in isolation. At the border between Millton and Konorhim is a strip of bars and taverns known as Drowned Miner's Den that serves as a regular destination for the dwarves who enter Millton and never escape.
With the great exodus of dwarves after Dul Kag's expansion in the Age of Isolation, there remains a vast amount of space unused. Many warehouses and guild factories find themselves without purpose a majority of the time. This vacancy is nothing compared to the Hollow Halls. The Hollow Halls is the ghost town from Allmeet containing the Silent Precinct (once a multicultural downtown neighborhood), the World Market, and the Daleview Wreckage.

The Mines

Delving beneath the valley level, these cave complexes are the sources of Dul Kag's metals, fuels, precious resources.
