Personal history

The leader of the Shroud, Topper took control about 50 years ago, after deposing the previous Shroud in a manner stereotypical to drow. That is, without any traces that could be linked back to him. He consolidated his power quickly, forcing the rest of The Shroud into line, and imposing his own set of controls over them. He quickly built up a reputation as a cruel master, however there was never anything solid to substantiate these claims.
Ostensibly, he had a falling out from the Council of Matrons in Menzoberranzan, and barely escape with his life. He still retains some ties to the city of Drow, and has used this to grow as a force in the economy of Malaz.
