Peltarch

Located on the coast of the Sea of Dragon Tears is Peltarch, the largest port city in Malatoria. With a strong economy and a powerful navy, this free city was a force to be reckoned with before The War Against the Darkness. Now the city is desperately trying not to collapse under its own weight.
Agents from the Land of Dagrazt (particularly Lord Cerulean) infiltrated the Peltarch City Council and through manipulation and propaganda played Peltarch against Elendar during the war. This sapped the resources of both nations and allowed Dagrazt to make some essential moves against the forces of good. Now that the war has ended Peltarch is struggling to regain lost connections and reestablish itself as a reliable power in the world.
The wharf district of Peltarch has always been particularly rough, but now that work has slowed it has created a veritable spawning ground for criminal enterprise. The Red Tide Thieves Guild wields more power than ever before, and have designs on keeping it that way. While the rest of the city actively works to rebuild itself, the "Tide" seeks to insert itself into more and more illicit activities.
Peltarch houses many places of note, but for those looking for information, The Black Lobster Tavern in the Wharf district is an excellent place to start.

Culture

Peltarch has always been a rough and tumble place, and its population takes pride in this reputation. In addition, its history as a commerce center produced a profound disparity in the city's wealth. When it was overtaken by the forces of Dagrazt, many of those who sat in "ivory towers" were thrown to mix with the rabble in the streets. This has created new tensions as people struggling to regain what was lost are often at odds with those struggling to simply improve their miserable lot.

Military

Peltarch had one of the strongest navies in the world before the War Against the Darkness. It lost much of its force during the war and although it is a shadow of its former self, it does have enough ships to defend itself.

Foreign Relations

Peltarch is currently in talks to resume trade with Thallaspur but nothing has yet been finalized.
Since Bariadan was also occupied by the Land of Dagrazt during the War, trade never ceased between the two city's. It remains Peltarch's strongest trade partner.
Peltarch has maintained a tense but workable relationship with Gneiss.
Relations with Elendar, Calorn, and the Elves of The Great Forest remain strained.
