Duchesses of Shkue

The mysterious triumvirate of sisters known as the Duchesses of Shkue have ruled over their province in North Central Volinsk for apparent centuries. Residing in the comfort of their mountain castle the Sturmschloss and shrouded in mystery, the three sisters wear long cowled robes with masks and rarely, if ever, speak directly to anyone. Instead they communicate through a major domo known as The Voice of the Three.
The Duchesses have maintained power by eliminating other rulers in the province who start to accrue too much power. The motives behind their actions seem erratic at times, and are often an enigma to the people, but on the whole the state is managed fairly effectively (although dispassionately).
In addition to the Voice, each Duchess is protected by a hulking warrior in ornate full plate armor. Like the Duchesses, these warriors never speak and always interpose themselves between the Duchesses and others.
