Oakengate

Situated in eastern Blood Forest to the east of Willowwall on the edges of Deep Forest the village of Oakengate was until recently the ruin of it's former self. Once a larger settlement, the population of Oakengate had reduced to a handful of homes owned by those working the logging camp, and a few crofters cottages and hunters lodgings. Over the past decade the population has rapidly increased, due to the growing popularity of the OG school. Many of the locals are supported by the establishment, providing lodging and services to the growing number of students and staff.

Industry & Trade

A small logging camp lines the southern entrance to the settlement, supplying the local area. Shepherds tend flocks of sheep that range through cleared southern pastures, and through the forest itself. Increasingly the local population relies on trade and services associated with the local school run by former members of the OG Adventuring Party.

Guilds and Factions

The OG school is run by former members of the OG adventuring party, particularly @Adarvan who founded the school. Troubled young people, local youth and those wishing to make their way into the world as adventurers seek out tutorage from the retired adventurers.

Points of interest

Logging Camp - To the North of town, supplies Oakengate and Willowwall.
The OG School - The gates are carved with the OG's symbol, and the gates and fences carved artworks whittled into the wood by the student body. The Festival Oak - Near the centre of the settlement. Tarr's Tower - A ruined watch tower restored by Maur Tarr on the edge of town. Forge??

Architecture

The foundations and ruins of old buildings, once re-claimed by the moss and ferns of the forest have now been re-built into a small settlement with timber from the local logging camp, and stones sourced from the ridges and rocky outcrops that found in the nearby forest.

Geography

Surrounded by forest, Oakengate is located on the southern edge of a valley that works it's way to the north west. Most visitors enter from the west, traveling from Willowwall but the town also sees some travel from it's northern neighbours Rivercross and the larger coastal settlement of Nimduin in Bloodforest's north. The eastern path that leads into Deep Forest is little more than scattered stones occasionally travelled by hunters, or or Bloodforesters taking the Wild Way to Hollowhall.
