Waste in Constantine
Constantine is a major city, so it has to manage its waste carefully.
Its organic waste is gathered and taken to a site at the inland end of the Western District where it is stored in huge piles to compost before being distributed to local farmers.
This area is known as Rat Haven by some and Worm Heaven by others.
The city's non-organic waste is gathered and taken to a site on the mainland to the north of the river where it is the centre of a community of the poorest people in the city, which subsist by scavenging through the waste of the city.
This area is known as the Dump.
