City Guard Uniform and Equipment

The standard Constantine city guard carries the following equipment on their person.   Uniform:
  • A pot helmet made of iron;
  • A shirt of grey made of a sturdy material;
  • A jerkin made of tough but pliable leather, dyed grey;
  • Breeches of the same material;
  • Armbands with the crest of the guard on it;
  • A warm grey cloak for protection from the wind, rain and cold.
The crest on a guard's leather armband is made of medal and its metal is indicative of the guard's rank in the organisation: bronze is for the rank and file, silver is handleaders, gold with an increasing number of bars for officers of higher rank. The crest is based on the Rafael Royal family and is the image of a stylised lion in profile.   Armaments:
  • A dagger;
  • A wooden truncheon;
  • A scimitar and either a crossbow with a case containing six bolts or a spear and shield.
Other:
  • A whistle
Each guard station holds 2–3 sets of manacles for securing prisoners and covered lanterns for night patrols. A guard post may also have vials of Stink of Life in case of emergency.
