The Purple Falls of the Frozen River

The Birthplace of Dwarves

Introduction:

High in the Blackfoot Mountains nearest the City of Culvingarrd lies one of the great wonders in the land of Magmoia, The Purple Falls of the Frozen River. Frost in the region has kept these waterfalls surface frozen for as long as can be remembered. A large river that feeds into Seaforth Lake runs behind the sheet of ice. During the warmer days of summer, the river that runs deep behind the frozen wall gains pressure while creating small openings in the ice at the base of the falls. During this time the shallow caverns behind the falls can be accessed. Inside the falls, the caverns are filled with a beautiful purple amethyst wall that shines light off the waterfall to make the falls seem purple.

Purpose / Function

The falls are a place of pilgrimage for young dwarves growing into their adulthood in the realm of Worheim and presenting yourself before the Elemental Magnate Irial is considered the first step into adulthood. The purple amethyst has always been believed to be a gift from Irial the Magnate of Ice himself. Finding these stones outside of the cavern is extremely rare, making the cavern one of the only known places where the stone currently exists.

Alterations

A large black marble tunnel was constructed in the year 1042 allowing access into the caverns year-round.

History

It is well known around the realm of Worheim that the Amethyst cavern beneath the Purple Falls is the birthplace of the dwarven people who inhabit this land.

Visiting the Caverns at Night

Traveling into the caverns at night is strictly forbidden. It is believed by the people here that the twilight hours breed evil and to be seen by Irial during this time would be unforgivable.

Stealing

Stealing from the caverns is a serious crime. If caught, you will likely be wearing your right hand as a necklace to remind you each day the consequences of your actions.
