Mammoth Hide

It may smell bad...but at least you will be warm!

Introduction:

The dwarves of Worheim realized early on that the great Mammoths who roamed the tundras seemed impervious to the frozen elements. The people began using mammoth hides and the fur in much of their clothing and still do to this day. The properties of the Hide make it invaluable to the people. The coat and hide is very water-resistant, holds in large amounts of heat, and seems to repel the wind like a metal shield would.

Clothing:

In the realm of Worheim, the hide is turned into many types of clothing from hats, gloves, cloaks, and boots. Many of the people who live here own clothing made from Mammoth hide. The material has proved invaluable as a primary clothing source.

Armor:

The warriors of Worheim have been using the Mammoth Hide in their armor and cloaks for centuries. The hide is not as heavy and stiff as a metal suit of armor, while still being able to stop the blow of a blade due to the hides extraordinary strength.

Preparation:

Most of the clothes that are made with mammoth hide now are dipped into a boiling pool of whale fat and crushed purple amethyst. The process dies the clothing a feint purple color while also making the garment even more water-resistant.

Uncured products are a dull brown to black.   Products treated in the cat of whale fat and crushed amethyst come out in a light shade of purple.

Physical & Chemical Properties

The cloaks have a greasy feel to them as the fur is naturally covered in a thick and greasy coat.
The mammoth hide is too valuable and isn't commonly traded outside of the realm. The Humans of Mynari are close neighbors and allies that have purchased hides from the dwarves for years. The only other realm you may see a large amount of Mammoth Hide clothing would be in the Realm of Mynari.
Odor
The clothing never seems to smell particularly good, even with perfume.
