Personal history
Alara was first mentioned in mortal mythology when she was married to Aja. The two were desperetly in love, but in order for them to be wed, she could no longer leave the Sun Palace. Alara eventually grew restless, and chafed under her husband's rule. When Aja fell asleep, begining the Great Winter, Alara allowed herself to be seduced by Lan, conceiving Liya, the goddess of war. When he awoke, she kept this a secret from her husband, and had several other children with him, including Alorr, Aimas, Idar, and Evanore. Alorr was her favourite, and she often sent him on errands for her on earth. Alara is known to shower fortune upon mortals with the same impartiality as she takes it away. Just as much a trickster as her former lover, Lan, she can be capricious and quick to desert.
Sexuality
Though in some cultures Alara has been a symbol of a corrupt woman, who has either willingly strayed from her husband, or has been corrupted by her love of Lan, she is also a symbol of women's sexual freedom outside of the marriage institution.
Relationships
History
The two were wedded before the birth of the earth, and they both swore to love and honor each other until the end of time. Aja still does, but Alara does not, and frequently lies with others.
