The Nethren
The Nethren is a biological mass that is a creation of the
Ahura to make and recycle the
Ashuri.
The Ahura are able to use the mass to bioengineer and craft specific Ashuri for whatever job they are assigned to.
Due to the constant recycling and creation of the Ashuri, the Nethren has developed a repository of memories, skills and emotions, a mass collective of previous lives.
Sentience
The Ashuri believe that the Nethren is sentient, and recall pleasant memories and feelings of togetherness from before they were born. It is one of the few secrets they keep from the Ahura, as it would challenge the latter's understanding of their creations.
The Ashuri are able to reach in and request information and knowledge from the Nethren, however it is extremely easy for said individual to be reabsorbed so it's not recommended if they haven't fulfilled their role.
Splinters
For large enough ships, the Ahura will bring a chunk of the Nethren with them when participating in long distance intergalactic travel to allow the process of recycling to continue where needed. The splinter is expected to be returned to the main mass eventually.
