Skorath (Skoor-raf)

The Skorath are a reptilian race that originate from the planet Koros, feared within the galaxy and the reason the Galactic Union was formed. After Ra'koom, the species did not survive.

BASIC INFORMATION

ANATOMY

Skorath have a very muscular physique, granting them immense strength and endurance. They have sharp teeth, retractable claws and a strong tail which gives them extra stability.

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking

The Skorath are covered in a dense layer of scales which provide them with protection from physical assaults. These scales range from brown, green and occasionally grey.

AVERAGE INTELLIGENCE

Despite have a reputation of being savage brutes, the Skorath are very intelligent.

GENETICS AND REPRODUCTION

The Skorath have a mating season that occurs once a year which they form temporary pairings. These pairings are not always monogamous, as males may mate with multiple females, and females can lay numerous clutches from different partners throughout the season.

GROWTH RATE & STAGES

Eggs will hatch after aproximately 2 months after they've been layed. Young Skorath reach puberty at around 8-11 years, reaching maturity at 12. They are commonly raised in clutches by their mother, however are usually left to their own devices after maturity.

DIETARY NEEDS AND HABITS

The Skorath are carnivores and eat a larger variety of meat, both cooked and raw. They have been known to eat their enemies if given the chance to. Some rumours have developed that they will eat their own kind, especially the weak, but this is completely up to speculation.

LANGUAGE

The Skorath have a spoken language, but have a more subtle addition layer to their language involving hisses, growls and snapping.

Conquest and Expansion

Skorath value expansion and conquest as a means of proving their dominace and securing resources. They believe that control over territories, both on Koros and on other planets, are essential for the survival and prosperity of their species.

Clutch Mates

Due to mothers and fathers having multiple clutches, Skorath usually only consider the siblings from their clutch to be their family, and are fiercely loyal to them. While they may cooperate with other groups and society on a larger level, their allegiance remains firmly rooted with their siblings.

INTERSPECIES RELATIONS

The Skorath have a fearsome reputation in the galaxy due to conquering and enslaving planets. They will take part in temporary truces in exchange for weapons and technology, though will gladly turn the weaponry on them afterwards.

USES, PRODUCTS & EXPLOITATION

Skorath eggs are seen as a forbidden delicacy in the galaxy, both due to how difficult it is to get past a protective Skorath mother, and the fact it's frown upon to eat byproducts of sapient species by the Galactic Union.

COURTSHIP IDEALS

Both male and female Skorath will take part in fighting, both with potential mates and rivals, to show off their strength and agility.
Fighting against rivals has more risk vs reward in comparision to fighting a potential mate as there are no restrains in sparing the opponent from actual harm.
