angel

Angels are a race of celestials native to the Upper Planes who typically serve good-aligned gods. They may, as circumstances demand, be called upon to act as warriors, guides, defenders, or messengers for the forces of good, and some of the most powerful angels even predate known history. Angels may be created from whole cloth by their respective gods, but many modern angels are the ascended form of particularly pious mortals, and largely keep their original appearance, only taller, brighter, and more powerful.

In general, however, angels vary widely in appearance, and are consummate shapeshifters, allowing them to move unnoticed amongst mortals.
