weasel

Weasels are small, predatory mammals with short legs, pointed noses, and elongated bodies. They are considered vermin in many human communities due to their tendency to feed on poultry and rabbits, but the larger varieties are often used as hunting companions or mounts by dwarves and gnomes.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Weasels possess a slender, elongated body, short legs, and flat, triangular head. Their eyes are large and forward facing, their ears are round, and their snout is pointy with long whiskers. Their fur ranges in color across several shades of brown, gray, and black, and their underparts are typically white or yellow.

Ecology and Habitats

Weasels can be found on nearly every continent and in a wide variety of habitats, from grasslands and forests to deserts and even harsh polar environments. They are solitary and territorial creatures, nesting in crevices, abandoned tunnels, and other easily defensible areas, and patrolling a hunting territory whose size depends largely on available food and potential competition. Weasels are aggressive towards any intruders, even attacking creatures much larger than themselves with a surprising amount of strength for a creature of their size.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Weasels are voracious carnivores, often pursuing its prey into their burrows and using their sharp teeth to deliver a fatal bite to even creatures much larger than themselves.
