dire ape

The dire ape is a large, aggressive breed of ape resembling a massive gorilla with hooked claws on its hands, and large fangs. They are capable climbers and highly territorial, chasing even rival dire apes out of their chosen area.

Basic Information

Anatomy

An adult male dire ape stands up to 9 feet tall and weighs about 1200 pounds. Dire apes are covered in shaggy black fur, and have thick, sharp nails on their hands. Their eyes are red and gleam with malevolence beneath a jagged brow ridge, and their wide mouth sports large, often yellowed fangs. A line of horn-like spikes runs down the middle of its spine.
