Calendar of Narrash

The Dragonfolk Narrash Clurualenos was an ancient Republican astronomer who designed the calendar that is used today all throughout Lumenos. Through his studies of the sky and the movement of the stars he determined that Lumenos is a moon that revolves around a red gas giant. He named this gas giant Crimson, after its deep red color. Lumenos and Crimson go around the central star, Lum, once every 350 days, and so one year is 350 days long. Through mapping the stars there were ten constellations. He divvied the year into 10 months, each month was originally named after one of these constellations. Each constellation would stay visible within the sky for 35 days. Therefore each of the ten months would last 35 days. Lumenos orbits around Crimson in a 24 hour orbit. Half of that orbit Crimson blocks the sun making it night for 12 hours of each day.

Date Format

Dates within Lumenos are all based on Narrash's 'base format'. This puts the day, then month, then year, then era. Such as the '1st of King's Fall in the Year 1493 ce'. Some unofficial texts - personal letters, notes, and other everyday writings - will not add the era and may replace the number year with the name of the year, such as replacing 1492 with 'The Year of the Three Ships Sailing'. Names of each year are divined by officials in the High Church of Mayim, Church of Luck, and other divination capable persons. The names are sometimes unclear but always refer to a singular event that takes place during that year.
