Session 16 - Heading to War
General Summary
After some discussion the party decides to relocate at Vladimir's suggestion. Vasilii obfuscates their tracks. They move a couple hours towards a small farming village keeping from the easier route.
After setting up the two tents, the party decides to speak about the recent events, and to revise their goals. Hrefna suggests going west to the war front to save the Prince and become war heroes. Vasilii says he wants to speak with the priests of Perun. Vladimir explains what happened with the old priest and the fighting and Rurik's brother.
Vladimir explains he wants to go to Ladan' and learn Irii so he may be ordained. Vasili explains he knows Irii and can help him learn. Vadim explains he's willing to go wherever and perhaps kill off the priests of Perun.
A small bird deliver's Boiana's messege to Vasilii to go west where wisdom and salvation lay. The group decides to go west and Vasilii keeps the box of Perun.
The party travels west and comes to a river. They ask a woman living along the village to ferry them across. They decide to continue onward not stopping in the nearby village of Novoye Selo, only to see the massive turnip which is bringing many people from across the land. However they are hailed for help and decide to stop. Vladimir suggests they be paid.
Hrefna uses her mold earth to better loosen the turnip. Vasilii uses speak with animals to better command the oxen pulling the turnip. Suddenly root creatures spring from under the turnip and attack the party. Vladimir puts several to sleep while Vasilii causes spikes to grow, which cut up the ones trying to crawl out from under the turnip.
The party retreats and regroups. They speak to some of the villagers about the issue. After a back and forth and learning of the villager's faith Vasilii returns to the turnip. He says a prayer and asks what the spirits want in return. It then rises and gives itself. The group then rolls the turnip into the village. They feast and are rewarded.
