Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Vanille was relatively healthy, with the exception of living with chronical hearing problems that remained until their death. They, like most moonfolk, had shriveled lower limbs that were barely moveable at all, and they were overall very weak.

Body Features

They had a hunched spine due to the circumstances of their work, and was overall very weak. They had chronic hearing problems, being all but deaf later in their life. They were often described as lanky, with long spider like limbs that were perfect for their area of study. They were of average height and average weight, but were often seen as much shorter due to their hunched posture and curved spine.

Facial Features

Their facial stripes all came together on a point located just below their left eye, leaving much to be desired in terms of symmetry. They shaved their head at age 10, and left it bald until their death. They had relatively large, dark gray eyes with no discernable pupils, which led to them having poorer than average vision. They were reported to have bony, sharp features that made them constantly appear angry, and often scared away potential companions. Their nose jutted out, and gave them a hawk like appearance.

Identifying Characteristics

Their most identifying features were their long nose and sharp, menacing face, along with their hunched spine and horrendous posture. A less physical identifying feature was the odd way that they moved, much more jumpy and much less consistent in height than most moonfolk. This is often chalked up to them being raised by sprites as opposed to other moonfolk, and mimicking sprites flighty walking patterns and flight patterns as opposed to moonfolks consistent levitation. Another identifying feature was their perfect common tongue, perfect kigospriitongue, and their relative incompetence in moonfolk telepathy.

Apparel & Accessories

They were rarely seen without a pair of thick gloves, which historians today question the reasoning behind. The leading theory is that they partook in a crucial part of Sprite culture at the time, despite them not being required to partake in it due to their lack of claws, which makes the most sense due to his nature leaning more towards sprite than moonfolk. The second theory is that they suffered from a condition that reduced blood flow to his extremities, like their hands, which is a popular theory due to them being recorded to wear thick gloves, imported from wooly animals farmed in Ocharial as opposed to the lighter, thinner gloves popular in the Northwoods at the time.

Specialized Equipment

They were a scientist, largely using many complex tools to complete their work. One, in particular, was seen as odd, and that was their magnifying lenses, which were composed of a set of magnifying glasses that could switch between different magnifications using an odd magical ability that was almost unique to those glasses. It was only recently able to be replicated, and is now steadily reproducible, with scientists and those with poor vision alike being able to access them for a relatively low price.

Motivation

They had a strong desire for knowledge, and wished to one day know all that was to be known. They did not care what they had to do to achieve this.

Savvies & Ineptitudes

They were incredibly observant, able to notice even very small details and record them for later purposes. They were even recorded to have a perfectly photographic memory, which they used to their advantage frequently in pursuit of knowledge. They were also substantially better with languages than most moonfolk, having mastered two spoken languages and being proficient at writing in both. They were a wonderful writer, and often detailed many small things about even their day to day life, which modern day historians absolutely adore, as it makes their work easier. They, however, were a terrible artist, which can be seen clearly in the fact that their scientific records are filled with what historians believe to be models, but aren't really sure due to the near illegibility. They were also reported to be incredibly poor with words, often stuttering and mixing up phrases from different languages.

They were reported to be incredibly dependable. If they made a promise, they would always keep it, no matter how challenging, and they never went back on their word. They were also very loyal, unwilling to betray a friend for any reason. They were incredibly diligent, working often into the late hours of the night just to finally reach the solution to a problem, or to finally crack a complex puzzle.

Vices & Personality flaws

All who had met them noted that they were a workaholic, refusing to take breaks even to preserve his own body and mind, which is part of what led to the permanently curved spine later in life. they were quite selfish, often putting his own desire for answers above other people. They were also reported to be strongly addicted to jarrp, a strong caffeine like substance that awakened the mind and body, which often kept him awake for days on end. This ended up leading to their demise, as they overdosed and died.

Family Ties

Their biological parents were Liri and Olp, two moonfolk people who gave them up soon after their birth. They were raised, however, by Vali and Eriko Kygor, who were a kygorin sprite and an anali sprite respectively, at the time referred to simply as animalis sprites. This led to his eventual journey to reclassify animalis sprites as two different subspecies of sprites.

Hobbies & Pets

They were reported to own a pet Andrian srir, a variant with long antennae and two sets of black eyes. They named this srir "Rivo", which translates to "darling/beloved" in common tongue. They apparently spent massive sums of money on their srir, as Rivo was bred specifically for intelligence. Historians debate whether Rivo may have had some primitive form of sentience, and many wonder whether Rivo was more of a lab partner or friend than a pet.
