Kvalca Sain
Kvalca Sain was the tribe leader of the Primals and packlord over all the werewolves of the Shudderwood. She was assassinated at the hands of Mathus Mordrinacht and the Whispering Way which threw all of the tribes of the Shudderwood into disarray, not just the Primals themselves.The Packlord
The conflict arose in the wake of murder of the former packlord. When a packlord dies, her successor consumes her heart and so absorbs his predecessor’s inner strength. In the case of Kvalca Sain, she was slain by the Whispering Way, who stole her heart (giving a part of it to Mathus Mordrinacht) and then fled. Since Mathus consumed only part of Sain’s heart, and many of the tribes believed Mathus had a hand in orchestrating Sain’s murder, the tribes were thrown into contention- only his own tribe and the Broken Ones recognized his claim to the title of packlord. The Fellowship of the Sun eventually intervened on behalf of the Prince's Wolves.The Carrion Crown
Auren Vrood kept the Way's portion of the heart to serve as a component for The Carrion Crown. The component of the packlord's heart was described in the Ciphered Poem as "With packlord's heart the beast shall wake".Significance
