Mericidia
Mericidia is a potent nation, of conquest, faith, and tenacity. The faith of the people have seen them through many a trial and tribulation, and their leaders are experts at wielding it.
Structure
The kingdom is run primarily by the Royal line of Rheinfelden, powerful mages and cunning leaders. Below them are the Arcanum Lords, Lords who work in direct service to the Emperor.
The Emperors of Rheinfelden are well known for their silver tounges and potent magics. It takes a certain type of character to mass manipulate the peoples faith into a tangible and controlled force. The family also has a collection of magical artifacts that they can wield, the details of which are kept highly secret.
The Arcanum Lords act as both local lordship, Profesional mages, and royal Assassins. Like their Emperor, they are well trained in both words and magic, and have a secret collection of magic artifacts. Due to their frequent fieldwork, it is not uncommon for them to also fight in more mundane methods, but often at least assisted with magical artifacts.
Culture
Mericideans live their lives following the faith and living their day to day with a wide variety of magical entities, many brought about by faith, and directed by both church and rumor. In order to survive their unruly neigbors, Astravia, Mericidians conjure Eikons to fight alongside them, or even in their stead. This practice has led to summoning being used for many aspects of daily life, and the people have it down to a science.
However, powerful Eikons require the faith of large numbers, so the Emperor and the Arcana lords often change the peoples narrative, through official doctrine or implanted rumors, to mold their most powerful servants.
Assets
Mericidia is filled with magical artifacts, many of their southern lands having been the location of the war between Celestials and Infernals. Remnants of that war have also permently increased the ambient magic within their land, fed with the bodies of beings that were unending wellsprings of arcane power. The people have leveraged both well in all manners of life, which has made them very prosperous.
Mericidia and Astravia
Mericidia's primary rival is the nation of Astravia, a similar conquering nation. Oddly enough however, the two do share some odd similarities. They have similar political systems, both utilize magic in ways that parralel each other at times, and both hold the stars and tarot cards sacred. However, it is ill advised to mention this, as any Mericidian considers Astravia accursed.
Mericidian Secrecy
Mericidia keeps much of it's more intimate knowledge close to it's chest. It's churches are closed to outsiders, it's people wary of them, and it's leaders masters of deception and lies.
It's made it VERY annoying to record anything about them! We archivists can respect secrets and all, but even we don't get anything! Couldn't even get an interview...
