Grease
Grease
1st-rank - Wizard Spell: Conjuration
Pulsing red aura coalesces into slick grease appears and falls, with an audible "plop," covering the ground in a 10-foot square centered on a point within range . The grease smells strongly of animal fat, and turns the surface into dangerous terrain for the duration.
When the grease appears, each creature standing in its area must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or fall Prone. A creature that enters the area or ends its turn there must also succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or fall prone (one saving throw required per turn). All creatures standing in the area have Disadvantage on attacks.
The spell can also affect a vertical surface, such as a cliff face, or a ladder. Creatures attempting to climb the surface must make a Dexterity saving throw or lose their grip and fall.
The spell can also be used to create a greasy coating on an object. Instead of affecting an area, you can target an object you can see within range. If a creature is holding the object, it must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or drop it. On a successful save, the object is unaffected by the spell. An unattended object is automatically affected. A creature that attempts to pick up or use a greased item must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or drop it. Finally, a creature wearing greased clothing or armor has advantage on ability checks made to escape from a grapple.
The grease is flammable, and easily Ignited by fire. Creatures coming in contact with a greased, ignited surface or object take 5 Fire Damage per turn. The grease will be consumed and burned away by fire after two rounds.
