House Mireholt
House Mireholt is the economic powerhouse of Cromital. Though lacking in arcane prowess or martial legacy, the house has leveraged mercantile control and popular investment to rise to noble prominence. Through merchant contracts, toll roads, and control over several vital trade routes and shipping guilds, House Mireholt ensures its coin flows steadily—and that many others depend on it.
They are known for their aggressive political lobbying, often sponsoring laws that favor privatization, tariffs, and public contract auctions. They’ve also cultivated a reputation as patrons of the people, funding civic beautification projects, sponsoring artists at the Pratfall Palace, and supporting lower-tier merchant guilds, earning them wide popularity among the common folk.
But beneath their polished image lies a cutthroat culture, where deals are made in hushed halls and rivals are undercut with a smile. House Mireholt excels not just at trade—but at monopoly.
Structure
- Damus Mireholt (Patriarch) – A graying but sharp-eyed nobleman, Damus never speaks an idle word. He is loathed by rival houses for his wheeling-and-dealing, but few dare cross him. His memory for debts—financial and personal—is flawless.
- Senva Mireholt (Daughter, Popular Icon) – Young, charismatic, and always in public, Senva appears at festivals, theater openings, and charity events. She is beloved by the public and believed to be being groomed as a future political figurehead. Many suspect she is much more cunning than she lets on.
- Jareth Mireholt (Son, Guildmaster-in-training) – Oversees the family's merchant interests in Flow Docks. Unlike his sister, he is calculating and businesslike, constantly negotiating guild contracts and watching the margins.
- “Uncle” Blanvir Mireholt (Former Guildmaster) – Officially a retired trader, only serving as advisor for the family when issues arrive
Public Agenda
- Contract Dominance: Mireholt manages many of the port tariffs, mining export deals, and logistics contracts (though they are not allowed to control the raw ore itself).
- Public Works Patronage: They fund roads, fountains, small shrines, and repairs to civic buildings—always bearing the Mireholt crest, of course.
- Entertainment & Propaganda: Their subtle grip over the Pratfall Palace allows them to shape public discourse with plays, satire, and noble gossip.
