Although he leads the quiet life of a master craftsman now, Othil got his start as an adventurer. With his partner, Kari Grimtank, he would venture into the City of Mists in search of lost relics of the war and rare raw components. On their final mission, Othil and Kari got in over their heads. Othil made it back to Redstone by the skin of his teeth, with Kari nearly on death's door in tow... and a treasure he never looked but more precious than anything he'd ever expected.

It's been just over two decades since that last journey into the Mists, and since then Othil has contented himself by staying within the boundaries of Redstone and building the forge he shares with Kari from a little back alley shack to the most renowned smithy in the city, able to boast several dozen smiths and apprentices in their employ and the Knights of the Silver Moon as some of their most frequent clients. Othil's skill is known throughout the city, best known for his work in making armor and weapons. He has a particular specialization with rare and exotic materials, working in mithril, adamantine, and even more exotic materials as often as he can get them. Despite his love of exotic materials to use in his designs, Othil takes a hard stance against hiring adventurers. Although he would insist that things worked out positively in the end, Othil has never been able to let go of the trauma that nearly losing Kari left. Therefore he cannot bear taking on the responsibility of sending another into danger on his behalf; unbeknownst to Othil, Kari stance on this issue is a little softer.

Religious Views
Due to his profession, Othil holds a deep respect for the elemental fire spirits. Although he does not worship any of the specific regional deities whose temples can be found scattered around Redstone, he will often pray or dedicate his creations to Igni, the old Dwarven name for the Primordial Fire.

History
Othil and Kari met in their youth. Brought together initially by their training as smiths, their relationship grew when they discovered a shared fascination with the idea of salvaging and repairing lost artifacts from The War and collecting rare components to use in their craft.
Shared Secrets
Neither Othil nor Kari will talk about the details of their last adventure into the City of Mists. Whatever happened out there - whatever left Kari so permanently scarred - they keep it to themselves.
