Markings of Power/RuneScribing

Making Magic Beautiful, (And Destructive)

Etchings of Power.

This Discipline, and art, of SoulBurning is less about the actual SoulBurning itself, but the Symbols and Markings of Power, often known as Runes, that can hold massive amounts of SoulEnergy and release them upon activation to certain different effects, often reality warping in their very nature. This Diclipine unlike a lot of the others was not discovered, but rather inspired by Talthorian MagiTek and steadily developed by the Fulhumine King and Hero of Legend, Dlisn Mount-Carver and later innovated entirely by the entire kingdom.

Practice Makes Perfect

RuneScribing is one of the more specialized Diclipines as Markings of Power is easy to learn, but RunScribing itself is almost impossibly hard to master. Much like WardWeaving, it requires the Burner to already have the knowledge of what they're trying to do and to craft them from memory or have the great ability to be able to make complex and theoretical patterns on theoretical knowledge alone. To gain even good enough proficiency in it can take years of hours of practice and experience as it requires a delicate combination of craftsmanship, linguistics, and SoulBurning.

Explosive Art.

Several layers of work must go into making a properly working Mark/Rune; the etching/carving/drawing must be perfect or the SoulEnergy will BurnOut, the right amount of SoulEnergy must be applied both during the crafting and into it afterward to power it or it will cause a large Kickback, and if there's more than one Mark/Rune on most common items they must specifically be of the same set and be able to work cooperatively or there can be major unexpected outcomes.

Discovery

During the Sacking of The North, Dlisn Mount-Carver noticed that many Talthorian items, both military and not had strange markings and symbols on them and if certain specifications were met (i.e. being touched or an activation word) a 'miraculous' effect would occur and upon his return to the Fullhumine Kingdom, he also found that several symbols and holy/traditional markings also seemed to hold the power of sorts.
With years of experimentation and great amounts of trial and error, Dlisn devised the first set of Marks of Power, or 'Runes' as he dubbed them. Within the Fullhumine circles, this was an immediate hit, and both academically and economically use of these Markings of Power and the making of them, now dubbed RuneScribing by Dlisn, skyrocketed immediately. In comparison to the Tetraite or Munraite Enchanting or Lislowan Imbuement, it was much easier to teach the basics of and then to mass produce. As the generations wore on and Lislanders became more naturally acclimated to their SoulBurning, Enchanting and Imbuement began taking precedent and while RuneScribing has never faded away, it's relegated to common and mass-produced use as Masters of the Diclipine are few and far between and almost always Fullhumine.
