WardWeaving
A Lislander Necesity.
WardWeaving was first created and developed rather early on, as the need for magical protection and structural defensive/offensive capabilities were becoming a must as the different nationalities began warring, and the creatures and fauna began evolving rapidly. There were several early versions of Wards, mostly made with a singular purpose, usually to defend and protect areas or items, but as knowledge and technique of SoulBurning grew, so did the advancement complexity in which the Diclipine grew as well. Quickly it was focused on weaving SoulEnergy in many complex and complicated ways into metaphysical Wards that could do many things aside from protection or harm.
Metaphysical Barriers of Effect.
By forming and manipulating SoulEnergy onto an area, a protective shell can be made and given several properties and aspects, depending on the Burner and their intent (i.e. a protective physical shell, an explosive trap, one-way passage). While basic wards with a singular function are easy to Cast and maintain, a proficient WardWeaver can integrate and weave several different Spells and their effects into a single Ward over larger areas. It is usually increasingly difficult to weave more than two or three different effects into a single weave and the larger the distance the harder and more energy is needed to maintain them without major risk of collapse so it can take years of practice and a lot of collateral damage to learning to manage massive and/or complicated Wards that won't collapse as SoulEnergy is often volatile and easy to unravel if not weaved properly.
"The Monolith Has Fallen."
Because most Wards with more than a single effect are often complex and intricately woven bundles of SoulEnergy, it is quite easy for them to fall apart and be unraveled by an outside force if they're not weaved suitably, and the KickBack from one collapsing can range minor to catastrophic depending on the amount of energy coming down, and possible chain reactions. Therefore most massive web of Wards are locked onto a Rune or Artifact and not maintained by a single Burner.
